Apprenticeships

Ebor Academy Trust apprenticeship programmes

Apprenticeships are increasingly being recognised as presenting exciting, no-cost opportunities for both apprentice and employer.

All our programmes are now delivered online, removing all geographical boundaries and our workshops are taught live, online and by highly qualified and experienced sector experts.

Apprenticeships:

  • Can be used to recruit and train new staff – ie, grow your own talent
  • Upskill and retrain existing staff of any age – not just young people
  • Are open to staff with degrees and other qualifications (just not in the chosen subject area)
  • Are at no cost to schools or to their learners
  • Can be flexible in terms of learning on and off the job
  • Are easy to set up and run.

As a registered apprenticeship training provider, we are committed to working collaboratively with employers from maintained schools, other multi-academy trusts and private, voluntary and independent organisations to provide the best apprenticeships programmes across the education sector – for the ultimate benefit of all staff and the children and young people they work with.

Apprenticeship training is free for the vast majority of employers and for learners.

Our apprenticeship provision was awarded “Good” by Ofsted in Autumn 2022. Inspectors said Ebor programmes helped apprentices “develop significant and relevant new skills, knowledge and behaviours” and that they feel valued and listened to and grow in confidence and resilience to carry out their roles.

Ofsted noted that:

  • over half of the apprentices who completed their programme with Ebor achieved a distinction grade in their end-point assessment.
  • We provide apprentices with a suitable range of opportunities to widen their experience by visiting other schools and workplace settings.

We are particularly keen to work in partnership with other multi-academy trusts to help improve outcomes for pupils.

Email Sue Hinchcliffe, our director of education apprenticeships, apprenticeships@ebor.academy, to arrange a no-obligation conversation to discuss opportunities.

What people are saying:

  • Never have I had training sessions that could be more relevant in helping me to not only build on my existing knowledge but to be so easy to apply and put into practice in the working environment. An in-depth programme which teaches you to not only do a ‘job’ but to also have passion and motivation in your role. – LA Teaching Assistant Apprentice.
  • An apprenticeship with Ebor has truly been my best decision to date. I have had the opportunity to develop not only professionally but personally too. Joining this programme has enabled me to grow into my role and become a key person in the school environment as well as gaining confidence to challenge myself to deal with responsibilities I would not have otherwise known I was capable of. – LA Teaching Assistant Apprentice.
  • “It’s great to see how the knowledge gained from the training and the course tasks is being applied and how links are being made to benefit the children and the setting as a whole.” Employer, Early Years Educator Apprentice.
  • “We regularly meet together to discuss the tasks set and this has opened up discussions at team meetings which have been of great benefit to all of us” – Employer, Early Years Educator Apprentice.
