New Head of School for Brotherton and Byram

Caroline Towler, currently Ebor Academy Trust’s Director of Teaching and Learning, will take up her new role after Easter. Miss Towler was previously Vice Principal at Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy, York, and prior to that worked as Deputy Headteacher at Brayton CE Primary School near Selby.

“Within my current role I am already involved in working with both staff and children at Brotherton. It will be a privilege to lead such a fantastic team,” she said. “The school has been on an incredible journey and I know that there are exciting times ahead for the whole school community.”

To ensure continuity and a smooth transition, Executive Headteacher Gail Brown will remain part of the school’s leadership. “This will be a great opportunity to work more closely with Gail who has been pivotal in the school’s improvement,” said Caroline.

Caroline has worked in education for over 16 years: “I believe that learning should be about discovery, where children are fully engaged, sparking curiosity and allowing them to explore for themselves,” she said.

As part of her current role working with Ebor Academy Trust, Caroline has successfully focussed on school improvement. Having worked for two years within Ebor, which now comprises seven schools across Yorkshire, she recognises the power of working collaboratively to get the very best opportunities for all children, staff and the community.

“The Ebor values run throughout Brotherton and Byram Community Primary Academy: excellence, belonging, opportunity and respect shine through the school. I am genuinely excited and looking forward to leading a school in a community like Brotherton where the parents, the pupils and the staff are so committed to ensuring its continued success.”

Existing Head of School Bev Fletcher will move to lead Camblesforth Community Primary Academy, which joined Ebor in January this year.
