Two of our schools get official recognition

Haxby Road Primary Academy and Lakeside Primary Academy are delighted to have received the ADHD Friendly School Award for their amazing specialist teaching, gaining official recognition for the additional support they provide local children.

The Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP) these schools offer promotes the development of students with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and Communication and Interaction needs associated with Autism by providing a special educational service within a mainstream primary school.

The certification comes from the ADHD Foundation – The Neurodiversity Charity. They officially recognise schools that have committed to creating a safe, nurturing, welcoming and exciting place, in which all learners with ADHD can achieve their academic potential.

“We are thrilled to have achieved the ADHD Friendly School award. Neuro affirming approaches are at the heart of our practice at the ERP and we are proud to have been recognised for this. Special mention to Rachael Thomas, one of our specialist teachers, for collecting all the evidence for this award.”
Lucy Battersby – Headteacher, Haxby Road ERP.

“We are delighted to be awarded the ADHD Friendly School Award because it recognises and celebrates Lakeside’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students with ADHD. The award helps to raise awareness about ADHD and promotes a better understanding of the condition among the entire school community, including students, parents, and staff. This can help to reduce stigma and create a more inclusive and accepting environment for students with ADHD.”
Helen Hayes-Smith – Headteacher, Lakeside ERP.
