Ebor Academy Trust has chosen to partner with Coventry University in order to offer those keen to progress their careers and achieve QTS (plus a PGCE) the opportunity to do so through an Apprenticeship Training Route.
Funded through a school’s Apprenticeship levy, this course is an alternative route to traditional initial teacher training and offers a postgraduate-level qualification leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with no tuition fees, and the opportunity to earn while you learn.
Apprentices are employed by their school for the whole academic year (or two years for part-time trainees).
The course is offered at Primary level (5-11 age range) and across a range of subjects at Secondary level (11-16 and 11-18 age ranges). It’s also offered for the 14-19 age range in subjects which are usually only taught in Key Stages 4 and 5.
The courses start in February, July or November each year. This allows for an introductory element of the course to be studied before the start of a new school term.
The course is online, so can be studied from anywhere in England.
Further information can be found by accessing their website here or by downloading their Apprenticeship Route Information document here.
If you are an Ebor employer keen to provide to develop your employees through this apprenticeship please discuss this in the first instance with Sue Hinchcliffe: s.hinchcliffe@ebor.academy prior to completing a ‘Request to Train’ on SSHR.
If you are an employee keen to progress to the role of teacher, please speak to your headteacher first.
