Camblesforth is absolutely thrilled and excited to announce a fantastic new initiative set to support every child, from Nursery through to Year Six, to become an Eco-Warrior!
This ambitious whole-school program has been made possible thanks to the generous support of a significant grant provided by TagEnergy a battery energy storage system near the school.
The funding will enable the academy to bring in the external provision of GoWildOutdoors, which is now providing Forest School sessions for all children.
These exciting sessions will run for the full academic year, from September 2025 until July 2026. The commitment is to hold the sessions no matter what the weather, ensuring that children experience the natural world and its cycles throughout the entire year. Thanks to the donation of £500 from DRAX a few years ago all our younger children also have a full set of waterproofs.
The sessions take place every other week and are led by the fantastic Ellie from GoWildOutdoors, who is already delivering engaging and high-quality sessions for our children.
The Path to Becoming an Eco-Warrior
Children participating in the program are working through a set series of criteria designed to help them earn their Eco-Warrior status. The sessions have been a huge hit, with children sharing their excitement about how “amazing” and “great” it is to get outdoors and connect with nature.
The curriculum is thoughtfully delivered to be progressive, ensuring the children reach certain milestones that link directly to the school’s Science curriculum.
“This is a great opportunity for our children,” says Headteacher, Dave Card, “Our younger pupils are learning all about habitats, while the older children are focusing on key concepts like sustainability, all while being outdoors in nature.”
