One of our Year 6 boys, Ethan appeared on Channel 4 as a contestant in Junior Bake Off.
He has always had a passion for baking and his JBO journey really began when he was in Year 5, when he applied to be a contestant. His Year 5 class teacher recalls him saying he was going to enter but never challenged it further!
He was successfully selected from over 15,000 entrants, was the second youngest in the competition, and spent more than 3 weeks in the summer holidays taking part in the competition. He and his family kept quiet about this, only sharing with immediate family. The first we knew of his amazing achievement was the week before we broke for the Christmas break when we were contacted by Love Productions to make us aware that he was a contestant, asking us to monitor him closely during and after broadcast, and requesting we keep his identity confidential.
He persevered with the technical challenges, created some jaw-dropping show-stoppers and, although not the winner, he sure did us proud and showed what it means to be a RICHER [Resilient, Independent,Confident, Happy, Enthusiastic and Respectful] Learner.
The next All Saints bakesale will be for Comic Relief and we have children and staff waiting in anticipation to try and sample his products.
