An Ebor school leader will be contributing to the government’s education agenda.
Dave Barber, director of education at Ebor Academy Trust, has been elected to join a policy advisory group, convened by the Confederation of School Trusts (CST), to help shape education policy nationally.
Mr Barber is one of 36 school leaders making up a new representative forum. The CST policy advisory group will develop policy positions and speak for the multi-academy trust sector to external policy makers including ministers.
He said: “I am pleased to be able to draw on my years of experience to add to the debate about ways to continually improve education. It is a privilege to have been elected and I will try and make sure that the issues facing Ebor and schools in this part of the country are brought to the attention of decisionmakers.”
The trust has 25 primary schools in York, Selby, Hull and the East Riding and on the Yorkshire Coast. Mr Barber joined Ebor in 2017.
The CST policy advisory group will provide “critical, front-line perspectives that will help shape the policy landscape for school trusts across England,” according to CST deputy chief executive Steve Rollett.
One of Mr Barber’s first jobs was his group’s round table discussion with Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson.
