Two successful multi academy trusts (MATs) are consulting on a merger that would create a
uniquely comprehensive education partnership, combining expertise across two areas of
national priority in education: early years and special educational needs and disabilities.
Ebor Academy Trust and Nexus Multi Academy Trust have announced they are opening
consultation on proposals to merge, forming a larger, more resilient organisation that would
serve over 45 schools. The proposed partnership would bring together the trusts’
complementary specialisms, with Ebor’s 25 mainstream primary schools and one special
school joining forces with Nexus’ 20 special schools and one mainstream primary school.
The footprint of the merged MAT would cover the majority of the Yorkshire, Humber and
Nottinghamshire region, creating an organisation that is not only better positioned to meet
the needs of the Trusts’ existing schools sustainably, but also to extend its reach to support
other schools regionally and nationally.
