Over the course of this academic year, Camblesforth Primary Academy has been engaged in an ambitious, whole-school environmental project.

They are proud to announce that all children – from Nursery, right up to our Year 6 leavers – have successfully completed a rigorous, hands-on curriculum to graduate as an officially certified Eco-Warrior.

This year-long initiative was made possible through a fantastic community partnership. Generous funding from a local energy company (tagenergy) allowed them to collaborate with Go Wild Outdoors, bringing specialist Forest School leader Ellie onto the school site for bi-weekly sessions with every year group.

Throughout the autumn, spring, and summer terms, our school grounds were transformed into a living classroom. Rather than treating outdoor education as an occasional treat, the bi-weekly schedule allowed pupils to systematically work through an environmental curriculum. Across the year, children have mastered practical sustainability skills, including water conservation techniques, wildlife protection, and constructing sustainable mini-beast homes to boost our local biodiversity.

The project has been an overwhelming success, fostering a deep sense of environmental responsibility and teamwork across all key stages. Here is what some of our newly certified Eco-Warriors had to say about their experience:

“I’ve loved making different things out of just sticks and logs. It’s amazing .” – Wade, Year 4

“It’s been so great doing Forest Schools again with Ellie. We used to do it way back when we were in Year 1, so it’s been the perfect way to spend our final year at Camblesforth. .”  Charlie, Year 6

A huge thank you from Headteacher Dave Card to energy funding partners, Ellie from Go Wild Outdoors, and the Camblesforth staff who supported these sessions rain or shine. Most of all, congratulations to our wonderful pupils for their dedication to protecting our planet.
